Citing security concerns, the Metropolitan Police in London have asked pro-Israel organizations not to disclose the location of their upcoming conference.
Police officers in London called representatives of both Reservists on Duty and Campaign for Truth, two pro-Israel groups, advising them that, for the safety of event attendees, the organizations should not make known where the conference will be taking place. The intention is to prevent anti-Israel protesters from knowing where to stage demonstrations, some of which are known to grow violent.
However, the police also said that they cannot provide security for an event whose location has not been disclosed, and so, if an incident occurs, they will not be onsite immediately.
The conference, “Ethics of war in the age of social media and the rise of terror,” is being hosted by Reservists on Duty and sponsored by Campaign for Truth, groups that work to undermine the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Wednesday’s warning followed the violent anti-Israel rally at University College London last week, where, Jewish students attending a campus event hosted by UCL Friends of Israel and CAMERA on Campus were trapped in the hall by protesters.
