For 2,000 years, the Jewish People experienced persecution in so many countries, but never in India, the Israeli prime minister reminded his counterpart in Delhi.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on a six-day visit to India, thanked his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, “not only for the honor you showed me, but also to the people of Israel and State of Israel.”
“You are a revolutionary leader in the best sense of the word ‘revolution,'” Netanyahu said in a joint statement to the press, pointing to the great progress Modi has brought to his country for the benefit of his people and the world.
Modi was the first leader of India ever to visit Israel, Netanyahu said, calling it a historic event, especially for Israelis of Indian origin.
In 2,000 years, Jews in India never experienced anti-Semitism, the Israeli prime minister noted.
