March of the Living

The March of the Living, followed by the arrival in the thriving Jewish state, is an emotional experience for young Jews like no other.

The International March of the Living is an annual educational program, bringing individuals from around the world to Poland and Israel to study the history of the Holocaust and to examine the roots of prejudice, intolerance and hatred, according to its website.

Taking place annually on Yom Hashoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day – The March of the Living itself is a 3-kilometer walk from Auschwitz to Birkenau as a tribute to all victims of the Holocaust, the site explains.

The March, followed by the arrival in the Jewish state for Yom Ha’atzmaut – Israeli Independence Day, is an emotional experience for young Jews like no other. In this video filmed at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, the vocalist sings from Psalm 137:

If I forget you, Jerusalem,
may my right hand forget its skill.
6 May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
if I do not remember you,
if I do not consider Jerusalem
my highest joy.
