A model eco-village in Israel’s Arava desert will be the first carbon-negative neighborhood.
Two Israelis have created a model for self-sustaining villages completely independent of state infrastructure.
“In many places throughout Third World Nations, the situation in far from western standards, and on the contrary, many people are subjected to the mercy of nature, and many times this determines their existence,” according to the website of Israel’s “The Sustainable Group.”
The model relies on the premise that all that people need in order to survive are food, water and energy.
Another bonus, they say, is that this innovative lifestyle will lead to 35% decrease in the cost of living.
