IDF forces operating near the border with Lebanon thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs into Israel.

The IDF announced Sunday morning that troops on patrol near the village of Ghajar on the border with Lebanon identified several suspects who were approaching the border. The soldiers approached a spot and found bags containing drugs.
The findings were forwarded to the Israel Police.
The border between Israel and Lebanon is a drug-running route controlled by the Hezbollah terror organization and is also used for the smuggling of weapons.
Israeli journalist Amir Bohbot noted that the attempted smuggling occurred simultaneously as the security fence on the Israeli-Lebanese border was cut at three places, probably by Hezbollah terrorists.
“There is nothing Hezbollah is not involved in on the Israeli-Lebanese border,” he tweeted.
The police have thwarted previous drug smuggling attempts in the past.
The Alawite village of Kafr Ghajar is situated on the Israeli-Lebanese border and is divided between the two countries. Because of its vulnerability, the site has been the scene of multiple smuggling attempts as well as terror attacks carried out by Hezbollah.
