At the annual Sylvan Adams Bonei Zion [Building Zion] award ceremony honoring outstanding English-speaking immigrants to Israel, Ethiopian-born Pnina Tamano-Shata, Minister of Aliyah and Integration, also received special recognition for her efforts over the years to assist new olim.

“We are the generation that merited to live here,” she stated at the ceremony, which took place Monday night in Jerusalem.

The eight prize-winning olim have made significant contributions to Israeli society and beyond while showing that immigrants to the Jewish state can not only survive, but also thrive.
