On October 7th, the world recoiled in horror as Hamas terrorists committed unspeakable atrocities. Women as well as men from the south of Israel, along with attendees of the Nova Peace Festival, fell victim to the terrorists’ brutal sexual violence.

The terrorists, in a shocking display of cruelty, not only raped and mutilated their victims but callously filmed the heinous acts, leaving behind damning evidence for the world to witness.

Shockingly, the international response has been inadequate, with many women’s humanitarian organizations and the United Nations taking weeks to acknowledge the gravity of the situation.

Even after the revelation of evidence and survivor testimonies, there has been a disturbing silence from those who claim to champion the cause of victims of sexual violence.

Given this awful silence, the hashtag #MeTooUnlessYouAreAJew became viral and celebrities, like David Schwimmer, condemned those who deny the Hamas sexual assaults.

Emphasizing the importance of believing survivors and calling out the conditional activism of some organizations, Schwimmer stated, “They’ll fight like hell for ALL victims of sexual violence — unless they’re Jews.”

Recently, in a deeply troubling investigation by The New York Times titled ‘Screams Without Words‘: How Hamas Weaponized Sexual Violence on Oct. 7’, the extent of the terror became even more apparent.

Survivors, courageously shared their accounts, describing scenes of unimaginable horror. Supported by photographs and police officials, their first-hand testimony added to the mounting evidence of the terrorists’ barbaric acts.

In the face of such barbarism, it is our collective responsibility to stand against Hamas’ brutal sexual violence.

We must demand justice for the survivors and those who can’t share their stories, condemn the terrorists responsible, and ensure that the world does not forget the horrors of October 7th.

The deafening silence from UN Women and other organizations speaks volumes.
