Fireworks burst over the Iranian night as news broke that the helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi and other government officials had crashed into the mountains of northern Iran.

The excitement stems from Raisi’s reputation as a vicious leader who killed thousands of political opponents and innocent civilians and tortured countless other Iranians.

His moniker, ‘The Butcher of Tehran,’ reflects his blood-stained hands as the leader of an oppressive dictatorship. He has also been linked to Iran’s various terror proxies across the Middle East, which have primarily targeted Israel and other Western interests.
