Her quest began with an existential crisis over her Catholic upbringing and led to the revelation of her ancestors’ secret Judaism, hidden despite forced conversions during the Inquisition.

The film captures her travels to Spain and Portugal, where she delves into historical archives, uncovering proof of her lineage, including a mikvah and synagogue in her ancestral town of Ferros. Today, Genie is dedicated to aiding others in Latin America to uncover their crypto-Jewish heritage through the organization Kulanu.
