A stabbing terror attack on Monday morning was thwarted at the southern Israeli town of Netiv Ha’asara, near the Gaza border.

The terrorist was reportedly eliminated by the local civilian emergency response team after trying to stab security forces stationed at the entrance to the town.

The IDF said that the attacker was “a foreign citizen who came to the scene from Israel and not from the Gaza Strip,” according to Ynet.

Israel Hayom reported the attacker, a Muslim Canadian, had landed in Israel just hours before the attack.

After arriving at Netiv Ha’asara, the terrorist reportedly pulled out a knife and attacked a member of the security squad while chanting, “The IDF is killing civilians in Gaza.”

Medical teams reportedly treated at the scene a 61-year-old woman who suffered from shock.

A United Hatzalah medic who arrived at the scene recounted, “I was at my nearby workplace when gunfire was heard. I quickly arrived at the scene and encountered the neutralized attacker and a 61-year-old woman in shock due to the sounds of gunfire and the nature of the event,” the medic added, according to Israel Hayom.

“We did not find any physical injuries at the scene.”
