The IDF and Shin Bet announced Friday that they had eliminated a senior Hamas Nukhba commander who led the Oct. 7 assault on the Sufa military post and later participated in holding Israeli hostages captive in Gaza.
Israeli forces struck and killed Muhammad Mahmoud Marshad al-Qadi in the Khan Yunis area of southern Gaza on Wednesday, according to the joint statement.
Al-Qadi served as a Nukhba company commander in Hamas’s military wing and personally took part in the Oct. 7 massacre, commanding the Hamas assault on the Sufa post.
During the war, al-Qadi was involved in holding hostages in Hamas captivity in the Rafah area, the IDF and Shin Bet said.
More recently, he led training for Hamas terrorists and worked to rebuild the terror group’s military capabilities.
Al-Qadi was also advancing attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians in what the military described as systematic violations of the ceasefire.
The IDF said he was eliminated to remove the threat he posed.
Israeli forces under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operating to eliminate immediate threats, the military added.
