A senior Czech diplomat was killed in a traffic accident in Jerusalem, the Czech Embassy in Israel announced Thursday.
Klára Schneiderová, 30, served as head of the Czech Embassy’s Branch Office in Jerusalem.
According to Israeli reports, Schneiderová was struck after a minibus veered from its lane, mounted the sidewalk and hit her before continuing until it came to a stop at the entrance to a nearby store.
Emergency medical teams evacuated Schneiderová to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center in critical condition while continuing resuscitation efforts.
Despite efforts to save her life, doctors later pronounced her dead.
The Czech Embassy in Israel expressed its grief over the sudden loss of the young diplomat.
“With deep sadness, we mourn the tragic loss of our colleague and friend, Klára Schneiderová, Head of the Czech Embassy’s Branch Office in Jerusalem, who died in a car accident,” the embassy said.
