Israel is the only safe haven for Christian minorities in the Middle East, a Greek Orthodox spiritual leader from Nazareth, told the UN Human Rights Council.

Father Gabriel Nadaf, a Greek Orthodox priest from Nazareth and a loyal citizen of the State of Israel, told the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday that Israel is the only place in the Middle East where Christian minorities are safe.

“In the Middle East today, there is one country where Christianity is not only not persecuted, but affectionately granted freedom of expression, freedom of worship and security,” Nadaf declared. “It is Israel, the Jewish State. Israel is the only place where Christians in the Middle East are safe.”

‘End Witch Hunt of Only Free Country in the Region’

He told the Human Rights Council, which is known for bias against Israel and had just held a discussion on “Human Rights Situation in Palestine and Other Occupied Arab Territories,” to end their “witch hunt of the only free country in the region.” Otherwise, he warned, they will be “signing the death warrant on the last free Christians in the Holy Land.”

Across the Middle East, in the last 10 years, 100,000 Christians have been murdered each year. That means that every five minutes a Christian is killed because of his faith,” Nadaf asserted.

Nadaf and his family have faced intense persecution for their support for the Jewish State and for encouraging Christian Israeli Arabs to serve in the IDF.

His trip to Geneva was organized by “The Face of Israel,” a private Israel-advocacy organization.
