The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, alleging war crimes and crimes against humanity during Israel’s defensive operations in Gaza.
This marks the first time the ICC has targeted leaders of a Western democracy, setting a perilous precedent that undermines Israel’s right to self-defense and the integrity of democratic nations.
The ICC has reached a new low in its morally bankrupt and legally baseless attacks against the Jewish state. Congress must now act to sanction ICC officials.

Israel, not a member of the ICC, possesses a robust judicial system capable of addressing any legitimate allegations. The ICC’s overreach disregards this, asserting jurisdiction based on Palestine’s contested statehood status.
Moreover, the court’s actions equate Israel’s defensive measures with the atrocities committed by Hamas, a recognized terrorist organization, thereby distorting the moral and legal distinctions between a sovereign state’s defense and terrorist aggression.
In response, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act (H.R.8282), aiming to impose sanctions on ICC officials involved in these politically motivated prosecutions.
The Senate must now act decisively to uphold the principles of justice and international law by passing this legislation.
