Don’t let Twitter give a social media platform to terrorists!

With the Taliban’s capture of Afghanistan almost complete, U.S. social media companies are trying to decide how to deal with an Islamic terror group ruling 40 million people.

It appears Twitter will give the Taliban a chance to prove themselves.

Meanwhile, organizations linked to Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad continue to maintain Twitter accounts.

Regarding the Taliban, Twitter executives will likely argue that if the Taliban runs Afghanistan, they should also run the country’s official government accounts. The social media giant will also likely argue that it is capable of policing Taliban tweets for incitement and glorification of terror.

But Twitter’s checkered history says otherwise. For example, when Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei tweeted for the genocide of Israel in 2020, Twitter executives said it did not violate company policy. Later that year, Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey admitted to U.S. lawmakers Twitter had no policy for tweets calling for Israel’s destruction or denying the Holocaust — clear red lines for concerned Jews.

Already, organizations with links to terror groups continue to operate on Twitter, such as Hamas’ al-Aqsa TV, Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV, and Islamic Jihad’s Palestine TV.

There’s already enough vitriol, hate and misinformation on Twitter.

Tell Twitter executives they must draw a line. Terror organizations like the Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and the Taliban must be banned from Twitter.
