“‘We support that at Amnesty. We embrace it and we call for that special committee to be reestablished,” the anti-Israel organization’s chief stated.

In its latest act of diplomatic warfare against the Jewish state, the Palestinian Authority, together with South Africa and Namibia, are pushing to re-establish the United Nations Special Committee against Apartheid, The Jerusalem Post reported.
“There are serious conversations taking place right now between South Africa, Namibia and the state of Palestine to put forward a UN General Assembly resolution on re-establish the special committee against apartheid which was initially established in 1962 and to focus on all situations,” Amnesty International Secretary-General Agnes Callamard told the UN on Thursday, the Post reported.
“‘We support that at Amnesty. We embrace it and we call for that special committee to be reestablished,” she said.
“We need to use all possible tools right now to bring pressure so that the systems of oppression and domination in Israel and elsewhere are disestablished.”
Callamard made these remarks at a UN event in New York called, “Apartheid, International Law and the Occupied Palestinian Territory,” the report said.
A French “human rights expert”, Callamard previously served as Special Rapporteur on the notoriously anti-Israel UN Human Rights Council.
Amnesty International’s latest report accusing Israel of apartheid, released on Feb. 1, has come under fierce condemnation from the Israeli government and Jewish groups around the world “as being antisemitic.”
The Biden administration rejected it as “absurd,” while U.S. officials denounced it as “rooted in historic prejudices and false narratives.” But Amnesty has doubled down on its accusation.
Avi Bell, a professor at the University of San Diego School of Law and at Bar-Ilan University’s Faculty of Law, told JNS that “the big challenge would be to find any claims by Amnesty that are defensible from a legal point of view.”
The 300-page report is “a compilation of tired propaganda, lies and distortions” and “boils down to a simple message: The world’s largest Jewish community should drop dead,” he said.
Ahead of Thursday’s event, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan urged UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres not to allow the anti-Israel event to take place, according to the Post.
“The facilities of the United Nation must not be used as a platform for those that seek to delegitimize Israel – the one and only Jewish State,” he wrote in a letter to the UN chief.
“By condoning, promoting, and allowing a poisonous event with such an inciteful title, the United Nations sends a clear message to the world – it unashamedly stands behind these false narratives that not only perpetuate the conflict, but were fabricated for the sole purpose of attacking Israel,” Erdan said.
“If this event does not cross the line, then where exactly is the line drawn?” he added.
