Is it just me or is the number of Jews who are determined to make life more difficult for their fellow Jews and for Israel growing at an alarming rate?

A few years ago, you could dismiss as outliers the relatively small number of Jews who were anti-Zionist and/or who prioritized the interests of other groups before their own co-religionists.  Now, there’s a seemingly unending parade of Jews who not only can’t be bothered to defend or advocate for their own people but actually act and speak in ways that are damaging to Jews and Israel: opportunistic and amoral politicians, youthful (and apparently unschooled in history or geography) adherents of the If-Not-Now and Jewish Voices for Peace movements, ultra-leftists disturbed by Israel’s strength and excessive whiteness, intellectuals and academics who jump on the anti-Israel bandwagon lest they alienate their colleagues.

There are so many sub-categories, all sharing one common characteristic: These Jews are only too happy to obfuscate on behalf of blatant anti-Semites (witness the circling of wagons around Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib and Omar), and none of them seems to be bothered in the least by the worsening climate for Jews around the world. They simply blame Israel’s actions for any problems encountered by Jews.

But there are some Jews whose actions are so undecipherable and so harmful to Jews that one is obliged to call attention to their lack of any rational moral compass. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you this week’s winner of the ‘Most Misguided Jew’ award: Fabian Hamilton, the U.K. Labour Party’s shadow minister for “peace and disarmament” (yes, that’s a thing now).

It’s bad enough that Mr. Hamilton continues to be a ranking member of a party that has demonstrated its hostility to Jews and Israel on innumerable occasions, but now Mr. Hamilton has welcomed to the British Parliament a Jordanian M.P., Yahya al-Saud, who has lauded Palestinian terrorism and who has referred to Israel as a “Jewish tumor.”

Al-Saud went so far as to write an open letter to Prime Minster Netanyahu in 2017 wherein he quoted the Koran’s verse praying for “ … the day when trees call on us saying , O you Muslim, here’s a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”

Al-Saud’s vile opinions are part of the public record, so it’s difficult to believe that Mr. Hamilton was unaware of his past comments when he extended the invitation. What then to make of Hamilton’s motivation in honoring such an unapologetic enemy of the Jewish people?

Can’t Blame Corbyn This Time

One could understand if it was Jeremy Corbyn who invited this terrorist sympathiser to the British Parliament, and we might even be able to understand if Mr. Hamilton refused to criticize the invitation lest he appear disloyal to his party’s leader. But we can’t blame this one on Corbyn because it was Mr. Hamilton who actually extended the invitation and facilitated the man’s visit.

Not only did this Jewish member of Parliament fail to stand up for his fellow Jews, but he also  lent a veneer of respectability to a person who has been enthusiastically promoting another Jewish genocide (note that Al-Saud refers always to Jews, not Israelis).

Mr. Hamilton is a disgrace to Parliamentary traditions. He gives aid and comfort to enemies of Britain and its allies. He demeans Britain’s admirable history of standing up to terrorism and murderous regimes. Worst of all, he uses his Jewishness to provide cover and credibility to those who would do grievous harm to the worldwide Jewish community.

Mr. Hamilton, your plaque is in the mail.  Please display it in a place of prominence so all can see that your efforts to harm Jews has not gone unnoticed.
