Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, nacido Eliezer Yitzhak Perelman (אליעזר יצחק פערלמאן), nació en Luzhki, actual Provincia de Vítebsk entonces del Imperio ruso, el 7 de enero de 1858 ), fue un lexicógrafo y editor de periódicos lituano-judío; además, fue el principal artífice y responsable del renacimiento y la reimplantación de la lengua hebrea como lengua hablada y escrita en los tiempos modernos.

A lo largo de su vida, su lema fue “¡hebreo habla hebreo!” (!עברי דבר עברית).
