Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical services signed a “life-saving cooperation agreement” with Romania’s Emergency Medical Services, the latest signed between MDA and another nation’s emergency service.

Under the agreement signed on Tuesday, the two services will collaborate and exchange knowledge on a variety of topics, including technology for saving lives, activating volunteers, aeromedical evacuation services and disaster management of various scenarios.

“Cooperation between MDA and Romanian Emergency Medical Services will help save lives and improve both organizations’ emergency systems,” MDA stated

Romanian Secretary of State Raed Arafat, who heads the Department for Emergency Situations at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated that for him, “signing this agreement is a very important step.”

“It is important that we are willing to agree, assist and help, one another,” he added, noting that he was “very impressed” with MDA’s technological and medical capabilities and “would love to come back to Israel and MDA, with additional members of our teams to continue learning from you.”

MDA Director-General Eli Bin stated that he saw the sharing of “capabilities and professional and technological know-how developed at Magen David Adom” as “a great privilege and the organization will do everything to help and advance pre-hospital Emergency Medicine in Romania, sharing the essential knowledge and information.”

“We have done this in the past in various countries around the world and I am convinced that such agreements lead to many lives saved,” he added.

Israel is a world leader in emergency response and medicine, with much of its knowledge garnered treating mass terror attacks and wounded IDF soldiers.
