The IDF and Shin Bet announced Tuesday that they eliminated a senior Hamas commander who helped lead the October 7 massacre, directed the invasion into Israel, and was involved in holding numerous Israeli hostages captive in Gaza.

Adham Ibrahim Sha’aban Nasman, head of operations for Hamas’ Gaza City Brigade, was killed in a strike over the weekend in Gaza City.

According to the IDF, Nasman previously commanded a Hamas Nukhba force and played a central role in planning and directing the October 7 assault from Gaza City into southern Israel.

Throughout the war, he also participated in holding several Israeli hostages, including Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, Gali and Ziv Berman, Eitan Mor, Matan Angrest, and Omri Miran.

Former hostage Emily Damari welcomed the announcement in an Instagram story.

“This monster was known as Sheikh Ibrahim. While he held Romi and I captive, I heard him speaking on the phone with his friend Sinwar, with Izz al-Din al-Haddad, and others,” she wrote.

“He was one of the most significant and ruthless figures we encountered during our captivity. Many of the terrorists we met aspired to be like him. They were all evil, some senior, some junior.

“Now they’re no longer talking about us together on the phone. They’re burning together in the fires of hell.

“Sheikh Ibrahim, Izz al-Din, Sinwar, and the rest of those devils. God willing, many more will join them. Am Yisrael Chai.”

The military said Nasman also served as intelligence officer for Hamas’ Gaza City Brigade and later commanded the Shati Battalion, where he directed numerous terrorist attacks against Israeli forces and civilians.

In recent months, he had been working to rebuild Hamas’ military capabilities by training terrorists and advancing the production and distribution of weapons throughout the Gaza City Brigade, in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

Shortly after announcing Nasman’s elimination, the IDF revealed that it had also killed another Hamas terrorist involved in the October 7 massacre.

The military said Asma Kamal Shahada Abu Tim, a Hamas cell commander, was killed in a strike in southern Gaza.

According to the IDF, Abu Tim infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 and participated in the abduction of Nurit Cooper, Amiram Cooper, who was later murdered in captivity, and Alexander Dancyg, who was also murdered while held hostage in Gaza.

The IDF said Abu Tim continued advancing terrorist plots against Israeli troops and civilians throughout the war, including in recent weeks. Southern Command forces remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire arrangements and will continue operating to eliminate any immediate threats.
