New details are emerging about the Lebanon component of the U.S.-Iran agreement, with a Saudi newspaper reporting that Tehran has promised Hezbollah that Israel will eventually withdraw from southern Lebanon as part of the broader diplomatic framework.
According to Asharq Al-Awsat, citing a source affiliated with the Hezbollah-Amal alliance, Iranian officials have assured Hezbollah that the agreement currently being finalized with Washington includes guarantees related to Lebanon’s territorial integrity and an end to Israeli strikes.
The source claimed that once an initial agreement is signed on Friday, Israel would be expected to begin a gradual withdrawal from Lebanon and complete that process before a final nuclear agreement between the United States and Iran is signed.
According to the report, the timeline for that withdrawal would fall within the 60-day framework reportedly envisioned for completing negotiations on a broader and more permanent agreement.

Israeli officials have not commented on the report.
The claims come amid growing scrutiny over the Lebanon-related provisions reportedly included in the emerging U.S.-Iran agreement.
Earlier this week, The Jerusalem Post reported that the United States denied Israel’s request to review the memorandum of understanding before its expected signing ceremony in Switzerland.
Separately, Saudi-owned Al Arabiya published what it claimed were key provisions of the agreement, including an immediate and permanent end to military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon.
The report also alleged that the agreement would include broad sanctions relief for Iran, the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, expanded Iranian oil exports, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and a future U.S. military withdrawal from the region.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has repeatedly linked developments in Lebanon to the broader negotiations with Tehran.
Speaking Tuesday, Trump criticized Israel’s conduct in Lebanon and suggested that continued fighting with Hezbollah was complicating efforts to finalize the agreement.
“They should have been able to do the job faster,” Trump said. “It just goes on forever, and when that happens it throws a negative light on the big deal — and that is the deal with Iran.”
The comments followed recent Israeli strikes near Beirut in response to Hezbollah rocket and drone attacks, operations that reportedly triggered concerns in Washington that regional escalation could jeopardize the negotiations.
Whether the reported Lebanon provisions ultimately appear in the final agreement remains unclear. However, the latest report is likely to intensify concerns in Jerusalem, where Israeli leaders have repeatedly insisted that the IDF will not withdraw from its security zones in southern Lebanon and will continue acting against Hezbollah threats regardless of diplomatic developments elsewhere in the region.
