Iran is wasting no time as it progresses with the development of its nuclear program, having announced a new project in collaboration with China.

Just days after signing an accord with world powers regarding its nuclear program, Iran has already engaged in expanding its nuclear facilities.

Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said Tehran is conducting negotiations with Beijing to construct two new nuclear plants.

“We are in talks with the Chinese over the construction of two 100-MW power plants,” Salehi stated on Wednesday, according to Iran’s Fars news.

He also referred to the contract signed with Russia on building two other nuclear power plants, saying, “God willing, the construction work will start this year.”

In March 2014, Russia’s Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation and the AEOI reached an agreement to construct at least two more nuclear power plants in Bushehr.

The Iranian official, in apparent reference to Tehran’s achievements in the nuclear talks, said that “they [P5+1] failed to materialize all their objectives, at least in technical aspects.”

According to Iran’s 20-year plan, the country should have the ability to produce 20,000 megawatts of nuclear-generated power by 2025.

Sign the Petition to Stop a Nuclear Iran

The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.

I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
