Following reports that the Obama administration hurriedly transferred $400 million in cash to Iran around the time that five US captives were released, Iranian television broadcast images of the purported pallets of cash used for the alleged ransom.

Iranian television has broadcast what some say is purported footage of the $400 million pallets of cash that officials claim was part of the “expensive price” paid by the Obama administration to free several U.S. hostages in January 2016..
According to the Washington Post, Iran confirmed the release of journalist Jason Rezaian and four other American detainees, set free in exchange for US clemency offered to seven Iranians charged or imprisoned for sanctions violations and the dismissal of outstanding charges against 14 Iranians outside the United States.
The footage shows images of large stacks of hard currency and features claims that the Obama administration sent this money over as part of an effort to free several U.S. hostages.
However, this footage could not be independently verified.
The White House vehemently denied these claims this week following new reports about the cash exchange.
