Despite the nuclear deal signed between Iran and the P5+1 powers, the Islamic Republic continues to ridicule and threaten the US. This time, Iran’s leader wrote, “if any war happens, the one who will emerge loser will be the aggressive and criminal US.”

Just days after signing a nuclear accord between Iran and the P5+1 Powers, the Iranian political and military leadership has joined in making derisive and combative remarks against the US, President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei tweeted a graphic that appears to depict President Barack Obama holding a gun to his head.

Khamenei published the offensive image in response to a statement by Obama that the US could still use military force if the nuclear deal with Tehran fails.

“US president has said he could knock out Iran’s military. We welcome no war, nor do we initiate any war, but if any war happens, the one who will emerge loser will be the aggressive and criminal US,” Khamenei wrote ominously on the image on Saturday.

Khamenei has been making fiery remarks about the US since the signing of the deal.

He attacked the West and Israel last Saturday while addressing a crowd at a mosque, stressing that the nuclear deal will not change his country’s policy toward the “arrogant” US. His address was punctuated by chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.” Responding to the chants, Khamenei said they were “the slogans of the people of Iran,” which “indicated what directions they’re heading for.”

Responding to these statements, John Kerry said he was “very troubled” by them and would test their significance over time.

Rouhani: US Table has ‘Broken Legs’

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani derided Kerry, calling on him to “give up the bad habit of threatening Iran.”

Kerry, on Thursday, said that the option of military action against Tehran was “still on the table” if it failed to respect the deal.

“The US should know that it has no other option but respecting Iran and showing modesty towards the country and saying the right thing,” Rouhani said on Sunday, according to the Iranian Fars News.

The Iranian president pointed to the catch phrase that “all options are on the table” used by US officials, and he called on “the US officials and statesmen to decide to make changes in their political room. The table they are talking about has broken legs.”

“Our status is so high now that it has shown to the entire world that they cannot make the Iranian nation surrender through pressures, threats and sanctions,” Rouhani asserted.

Top Iranian General Says Kerry is ‘Naive’

A top Iranian general also made combative remarks against the US over the weekend.

Basij (Volunteer) Forces Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi lashed out against “US provocations,” saying that “the Iranian nation is in consensus over the fact that the US is our arch foe.”

He ridiculed Kerry, calling him “naive.”

“Kerry said they intend to station 150 inspectors in Iran to fill in the blanks in their information about Iran and then exchange the information with Israel; then they would tell Iran that they have certain prerequisites for taking the next steps of the agreement, including negotiations over regional issues to force Iran undertake certain obligations, and if it refrains, they would use military pressure,” Naqdi said, referring to the US’ alleged “hidden agenda under the nuclear deal.”

“Unlike Kerry, we are not inexperienced to disclose our plan,” he stated.

Another leading Iranian general made similar threatening comments.

“Today the US knows that the slightest move against the Islamic Iran will ruin its house of dream,” Brigadier General Hossein Salami, deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said.

“The Americans have always resorted to bullying because they lack diplomatic skills,” Salami added, according to Fars News.

Salami has made similar threatening and combative remarks about war against the US in the past.

Sign the Petition to Stop a Nuclear Iran

The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.

I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
