Israel has reopened its embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, for a few days to provide consular services, for the first time since Russia invaded the country over three months ago.
Over 80 people received consular service from the staff in Kyiv on Tuesday and Wednesday, with others receiving services in Lviv.
Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky stated Thursday that “an Israeli diplomatic presence in Kyiv is very important to us and is another sign of Israel’s support for Ukraine.”
The Israeli embassy staff left Kyiv overnight at the end of February. The embassy team established a temporary consular office in Lviv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Hebrew University on Thursday via Zoom, his second speech to the Israeli public after addressing the Knesset.
