Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday night condemned the Islamic terror attack in France which claimed the lives of four and wounded 16, while saying the “civilized world must unite and act together to defeat terror.”

“I condemn the vicious terrorist attack that took place in France,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

“The civilized world must unite and act together to defeat terror,” he underscored.

“On behalf of the Government of Israel, I send condolences to the families of those who were murdered and to the French people,” he concluded.

Moroccan-born Redouane Lakdim, 25, on Friday killed four people in an attack on a supermarket in Trebes in southern France, and in a carjacking beforehand in a nearby town.

The terrorist was killed when police stormed the supermarket.

One of the victims, Lt. Col. Arnaud Beltrame, 44, a gendarme who stood in for a female hostage, was shot and gravely wounded by the terrorist during the rescue attempt. He died early Saturday.

Lakdim said he was “a soldier” of the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group.

The ISIS-linked Aamaq news agency said the terrorist was responding to the group’s calls to target countries in the US-led coalition that had decimated their presence in Syria and Iraq.

The attack was the deadliest since French President Emmanuel Macron became president last May.

US President Donald Trump tweeted also his support for the victims of the deadly shooting in southern France.

Trump said Saturday on Twitter that he condemns “the violent actions of the attacker and anyone who would provide him support.”

Trump tweeted “we are with you @EmmanuelMacron!”
