Reports out of Syria claim the Israeli Air Force struck a radar station on Saturday night.

By United with Israel Staff

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched an airstrike on Syrian military infrastructure, according to “local opposition media” cited by JNS.org on Sunday.

The strike occurred on Saturday night in the southwestern Al-Suwayda region of Syria, targeting “a Syrian military radar station.”

According the local media, Israeli missiles hit the station, which was identified as located on Tel Kalib mountain near Syria’s border with Jordan, which also shares a border with Israel.

Israel and Jordan have had a peace treaty in place since 1994, however, anti-Israel sentiment is rampant.

Syria, for its part, permits Iran and its agents of its Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) to operate freely in its territory. Iran consistently ranks as the world’s top state-sponsor of terror.

Since 2017, Israel has launched hundreds of strikes in Syria, primarily targeting members of the Hezbollah terror group and fighters associated with the IRGC.

Israel rarely confirms nor denies the strikes, consistent with its long-standing policy.

Iran remains committed to the destruction of the Jewish state, in addition to threatening Israel’s allies in the Persian Gulf, such as the United Arab Emirates.

To that end, Iran bankrolls and trains terror groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, all of which have launched rockets at Israeli civilians.

“Last month, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps said one of its senior officers was killed in a roadside bomb blast in Syria in an Israeli attack,” JNS.org reported. “The Iranian statement included condolences to the officer’s family and a vow to retaliate.”
