Marvel’s new “Captain America” film will feature an Israeli superhero named “Sabra” who first appeared in a comic book in 1982.

While real-life Israeli superheroes in IDF uniforms save civilians from Palestinian terror attacks on a regular basis, the Marvel universe is about to feature a superhuman Israeli hero in an upcoming installment of it’s “Captain America” franchise.
The film will feature an Israeli superhero named “Sabra” who first appeared in a Marvel comic book called “Contest of Champions” in 1982.
Sabra will be played by Israeli star Shira Haas, who has been featured in number of hit shows that gained an international audience.
The film also features Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, in addition to Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly, both of whom appeared in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” series.
In Sabra’s previous appearances on the pages of Marvel comic books, she is portrayed as a Mossad agent in scenarios featuring other popular Marvel characters, such as the Hulk.
Ironically, the Hulk has been played in previous Marvel films by actor Mark Ruffalo, who has promoted false anti-Israel propaganda in the past. In May 2021, Ruffalo was forced to apologize for accusing Israel of “genocide” during an 11-day conflict instigated by Palestinian terror groups in the Gaza Strip.
“I have reflected & wanted to apologize for posts during the recent Israel/Hamas fighting that suggested Israel is committing ‘genocide.’ It’s not accurate, it’s inflammatory, disrespectful & is being used to justify antisemitism here & abroad. Now is the time to avoid hyperbole,” Ruffalo tweeted at the time.
Haas herself is no stranger to controversy, having starred in a series called “Unorthodox” that was criticized for its negative stereotypes of observant Jews.
Haas’ Sabra character is slated to hit the big screen on May 3, 2024.
