The Israeli and United Arab Emirates (UAE) embassies in the US have come together in a unique collaboration to assist homeless people in Washington D.C.

In an extraordinary humanitarian operation, employees of both embassies prepared on Wednesday “winter kits” and “Corona kits” that will be distributed to over 100 homeless people in the US capital.

This is the first cooperation of its kind between Israel and the UAE’s leading diplomatic missions in the US, in the spirit of the Abraham Accords signed on the White House lawns on September 15.

Dana Al Marashi, head of Cultural Diplomacy at the UAE’s embassy, spearheaded the UAE team.

Tammy Ben Haim,of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Israeli Embassy in Washington said she sees “great symbolism in the fact that the cooperation of the Israeli missions and the United Arab Emirates in the United States is to help the needy.”

“It is a message of mutual accountability and Tikkun Olam [healing the world] that shows that the fruits of peace will affect both the citizens of Israel and the Emirates and many other people in the world,” she added.
