“I am here to tell the world that we will not be indifferent. Israel, we stand behind you, beside you, next to you and our Jewish friends here in America and around the world.”

Actor Dean Cain, who famously portrayed Superman in the 1990s television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, spoke on Wednesday night about the deadly Hamas attacks that took place in Israel earlier this month and the “evil” atrocities committed by the terrorists against Israeli civilians.

“Saturday, October 7 changed the world forever,” Cain said on stage at The Algemeiner‘s 10th annual J100 Gala, where he was among the night’s honorees. “Sometimes things in life are complicated, and other times they’re pretty simple. What has happened in Israel doesn’t have to be overcomplicated. It’s quite simple: It’s good versus evil. Humanity versus evil.”

Cain also shared that he spoke with an Israeli civilian who had six of his family members taken hostage by Hamas back to the Gaza Strip, including three children under the age of six. He said Hamas’ murder of 1,400 people in Israel and kidnapping of over 200 others, mostly civilians, on Oct. 7 is inexcusable and can “never, ever” be justified.

Cain produced the Emmy-winning documentary Hate Among Us in 2019 about the rise of antisemitism in Europe and the United States. He is also a board member of From The Depths, an organization dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust. The actor revealed on Wednesday night that he did a DNA genetic testing through 23andMe and discovered that he is 2.3 percent Ashkenazi Jewish.

He concluded his remarks at the Algemeiner gala by expressing his undying support for Israel.

“I am here to tell the world that we will not be indifferent. Israel, we stand behind you, beside you, next to you and our Jewish friends here in America and around the world. We stand beside you and you better believe it, if they ask where the Jews are, I will be standing first,” he said. “Good bless America. God bless Israel. God bless the brave servicemen and women of our countries as they start to fight. And they’re gonna fight this righteous war against evil.”
