New rumors are floating around about renewed ‘negotiations,’ this time hosted not by France, not by Egypt, but by our newly found friend: Putin.

What a tour de “Farce”!

One has to ask if world leaders have nothing more important to do than travel across the globe and enter into this nonsensical effort.

In Netanyahu’s own words, in his book, A Place Among the Nations, he states that one the main pillars of Israel’s survival is aliyah (immigration to Israel). He stresses that the ingathering of the Jewish people to Israel is an imperative for Israel’s demographic, and consequently geographic, superiority, by populating Judea and Samaria.

How would negotiations, which accomplish nothing but unreciprocated concessions from Israel and broken promises from the Palestinian Arabs, whose charter to this day states its aim of Israel’s destruction, bolster aliyah for those seeking assurance of Israel’s permanence?

Negotiations fly in the face of this imperative.

Having achieved great strides in economic, scientific and technical fields, it is time overdue to stand up for our RIGHTS, as any other nation would.

Rights that need to be inculcated in our youths — the undisputed guarantors of our survival — by educating them of our ownership to the land, historically, biblically and LEGALLY.

Nevertheless, having said all of the above, should negotiations proceed, I add a plea pronounced by the late Salomon Benzimra. Days prior to his tragic passing in March 2016, on his return flight from Israel, having concluded two ministerial meetings with, among others, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni and Minister of Education and Diaspora Affairs Naftali Bennett, Benzimra left with the author of this article the following message, which was transcribed and read at his shloshim memorial service. It was supported by hundreds of attendees, who added their signatures to a scroll displaying this plea:

A PLEA FROM THE HEART OF SALOMON BENZIMRA z’l

TO PRIME MINISTER BENYAMIN NETANYAHU

Min HaMetzar Karati Ya – From the Narrow Straits

Psalm 118

I CALL ON YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY ABODE.

SAVE OUR BELOVED LAND

P R O C L A I M OUR LEGAL RIGHTS

FROM THE JORDAN TO THE MEDITERRANEAN WITHOUT ANOTHER DAY’S DELAY

  • ACCORDING TO THE 1920 SAN REMO RESOLUTION
  • THE 1922 MANDATE FOR PALESTINE,
  • THE UN CHARTER OF 1945 (Article 80),
  • THE VIENNA CONVENTION ON THE LAW OF TREATIES

Assert Israel’s land title as recognized in the early 1920s.

No negotiations until the Arabs and the world recognize Israel as the Sovereign State of the Jewish people.

Otherwise the world will continue to accuse Israel as “occupier.”

Goldi Steiner, aka Giselle Goldi Steiner, was born in Hungary at the start of WWII. A child survivor, she landed in Canada in 1953. Steiner was the catalyst in building the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial, following which she joined its executive as secretary for 19 years. In 1996 she founded and chaired the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Committee, commissioning the building of the monument erected at Toronto’s Earl Bales Park. Presently, Steiner is involved in Israeli advocacy as co-founder (together with the late Salomon Benzimra) and chair of Canadians for Israel’s Legal Rights.
