Reacting to President Donald Trump’s imminent presentation of his Middle East peace plan, dubbed the “Deal of the Century,” Palestinian leaders issued a strong statement on Sunday calling for a “Day of Rage” as well for cancelling the Oslo Accords.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz flew separately to Washington at Trump’s invitation in order to discuss the plan.

Palestinian lawmakers backed by PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party, who issued the statement, called for uprisings in light of the plan, even though, according to economic details revealed in Bahrain in June, it has the potential to give billions of dollars to Arab communities and improve their living status as well as create a Palestinian state.

Implementing the plan would bring “serious consequences” to the region, according to the statement. It warned that when Trump presents his plan, Palestinians will participate in a “Day of Rage,” including riots and protests in Judea and Samaria as well as attacks on Israeli security forces and police.

The statement also called for expanding Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns to include not only Israeli products, but also American goods.

“The Palestinian leadership, with support of the people, will hamper all attempts to bring to an [unsatisfactory] end [to] the Palestinian issue, as has done numerous times in the past,” said the statement.

Referring to reports that the plan gives sovereignty over Jerusalem to Israel, the statement said that “any concessions regarding Jerusalem” will be refused.

The Trump plan reportedly provides for a four-year transition period, during which time the status of all territories in Judea and Samaria located in Israeli-ruled Area C would remain unchanged.

According to leaked details, Ynet reported, the plan allows Israel to annex 30-40 percent of Area C, and the Palestinians would retain control over approximately 40 percent of Areas A and B. After the four-year period, Palestinians could declare an independent, demilitarized state with limited powers.

Under the terms of the Oslo Accords, Area A is exclusively administered by the Palestinian Authority; Area B is administered by both the Palestinian Authority and Israel; and Area C, which contains the Jewish settlements, is administered by Israel.

The division of the territories of Judea and Samaria, Honest Reporting explains, “was based not on territorial size but on enabling the greatest number of Palestinians to be under full Palestinian control while maintaining the security of Jewish settlements and Israel’s borders.”

Saeb tweet cancel Oslo

“If Netanyahu begins annexation of palestinian territory officially, this means Israel’s withdrawal from Oslo Accords and agreements signed . It is an attempt to destroy the two States. But it will open the doors of one person one vote from the river Jordan to the midditterraen,” PLO Secretary-General and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat tweeted on Sunday.

Abbas rejected a request from Trump to speak by phone, the Turkey-based Anadolu news agency reported Monday.
