This is the second consecutive day in which Arab arsonists set fires intended to harm the community of Yitzhar in Samaria.

Israelis living in parts of Yitzhar, in Samaria, were forced to leave their homes on Monday as fires set by Arab arsonists from the nearby village of Enabus spread quickly and approached the community.

Firefighters and residents were engaged in battling the blazes, which were aided by high winds, and planes dropped chemical to stifle the fires.

The residents were later allowed to return home.

This is the second consecutive day in which Arab arsonists set fires intended to harm the community of Yitzhar.

A similar fire was set by Arab terrorists near the community of Elon Moreh on Sunday.

Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, stated Sunday that “unfortunately, it appears that arson terror has spread from the Gaza area to Samaria,” and called on the security forces to capture the arsonists and on the legislature to toughen the punishment for arson.

‘Nothing Sadder than Seeing our Land Burned’

“There is nothing sadder than seeing our land burned. We are not going to stand by and continue to look at years of hard work in agriculture and in general go down the drain,” he stated.

He called for swift action “before there does not remain any un-scorched earth in Judea and Samaria.”

Arab vandalism of Israeli-owned agricultural endeavors is a common occurrence, and Israeli vineyards in Judea and Samaria have been repeatedly targeted by Arab sabotage.

Israel’s fire department has been battling hundreds of blazes throughout Judea and Samaria and in the Jerusalem area in recent weeks, suspected to be mostly the work of Arab arsonists.

Gaza Terrorists Set Fire to Greenhouse in Israel’s South

In related news, Gaza-based terrorists launched balloons tied to flammable materials towards Israeli communities surrounding the Strip. One of the balloons set fire to a tomato greenhouse in the Eshkol Region and damaged the produce.

Arab terrorists over the years have adopted arson as a weapon against Israel, taking advantage of the dry and hot weather to ignite fires and cause mass damage to property as well as the loss of life.
