Border Police Old City of Jerusalem

Israeli security forces thwarted a potentially deadly terror attack in Jerusalem shortly after assailants shot at a home in Beit El, causing damage but no injuries.

In the fifth attempted terror attack of the day, two Arab terrorists opened fire on Border Police officers at Damascus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem Sunday night at approximately 10 pm.

Security forces shot and killed the terrorists and were not injured in the attack. Police began searching the area for explosives.

Earlier in the evening, terrorists shot at a private home in Beit El in the Benjamin region of Judea and Samaria, penetrating a window. There was damage to the house, but nobody was hurt. Police suspect the gunfire came from the nearby Palestinian village of Jilazoun.

These incidents were preceded by three attempted terror attacks earlier in the day.
