Kehila Kedosha Janina is one of the last remaining Greek-Romaniote synagogues, serving a Jewish community that traces its roots back 2,200 years to Greece during the time of Alexander the Great, making it one of the oldest in the diaspora.
An annual Yom Hashoah event held in Martyr's Forest, will this year pay tribute to Rabbi Moshe Shimon Pessach, a rabbinic and communal leader in Greece whose efforts saved the Jewish community of Volos.
