The legislation was advanced by lawmakers from ultra-Orthodox parties, including members of United Torah Judaism and Shas, and follows years of debate over the role of religious courts in civil legal matters.
Also at the conference, comedian Michael Rapaport, who has been an outspoken supporter of Israel and the Jewish people since the war broke out on Oct. 7, was given the 'Leadership of Zion Award.'
