A new museum in Baghdad, built on the grounds of the former Shamash Jewish School founded in 1928, preserves the clothing, holy books, and ritual objects of Iraq’s ancient Jewish community, which has all but vanished.
That name, Yom HaGirush, marks when Jewish communities across many countries were once again dispossessed but became repossessed in the free nation of Israel.
The Vatican said it invited leaders of Iraq's 'Jewish community' to a meeting with the Pope on Saturday, despite the fact that Muslims violently purged the Jews from the country decades ago.
