Staff Sgt. Zamir Burke, 20, of Beit Shemesh, served with the 401st Brigade's 601st Combat Engineering Battalion.

The slain men were named as Maj. (res.) Nael Fwarsy and Sgt. Tomer Keren.

There's speculation that most of the fatalities were caused by an error in the explosives' timing.
