Israel's Judea and Samaria region is preparing for the opening of seven new nature reserves and the expansion of 12 others.

Despite the fickle weather across Israel over the last few days, 130,000 Israelis took to the road on Wednesday, visiting national parks and nature reserves throughout the country.

Between 1948 and 1967, there were no civilians living on the Golan Heights, which was under Syrian control. Under Israeli administration, the area has come to life.
