“I will show them. I will bring many more babies into this world,” Shira Ish-Ran declared defiantly.

Shira Ish-Ran, the Israeli woman who was severely wounded and lost her baby boy in a Palestinian shooting attack last week, displayed defiance and strength in the face loss, vowing on Thursday to have “many more babies” in response to losing her baby to Palestinian terrorism.
Twenty-one-year-old Ish-Ran, who was 30 weeks pregnant when she was shot while waiting at a bus stop outside the community of Ofra, was seriously wounded in the shooting, and doctors delivered the infant in an emergency C-section. The baby died on Wednesday after several days in intensive care. Ish-Ran husband Amichai sustained moderate injuries in the attack.
On Thursday, a day after her four-day-old son was laid to rest, Ish-Ran was quoted by Hebrew-language media as saying, in her first remarks since the attack: “I will show them. I will bring many more babies into this world. Am Yisrael chai,” the Times of Israel reported
The baby was named Amiad Yisrael (my nation forever, Israel) before being buried in Jerusalem’s Mount of Olives cemetery.
Shira’s father, Chaim Silberstein, said his grandson’s funeral was “very difficult, especially when Shira and Amichai couldn’t attend and remained at the hospital. They had time in the premature babies ward to bid farewell to Amiad Yisrael, whom we never got to raise. We felt closure in being able to lay him to rest on the Mount of Olives.”
The baby’s other grandfather, Refael Ish-Ran, said at the funeral that despite the baby boy’s short life, he had “managed to unite the nation of Israel.”
“You brought so much light. And with all the light that you brought, we will extinguish their darkness,” he said in his eulogy, adding that the name Amiad was chosen to signify that despite the baby’s death, “The nation of Israel will last forever.”
Just hours after the funeral, Israeli Special Forces raided a Palestinian village and killed one of the suspected terrorists, Salih Barghouti, and arrested four other in connection with the drive-by terror attack, in which a total of seven Israelis were injured.
Both parents are on the way to recovery.
