Will the current “uncivil war” in America become a real civil war?

Elections have consequences, so we have been told.

In 2008 when Barack Obama won, there was a palpable feeling of depression and loss for those who didn’t support him. Personally, I shed a tear when he won because of our country’s history, and that moment was certainly not lost on me.

I did, however ,vehemently oppose Obama for many reasons. I don’t want to spend my time rehashing past history, but it is relevant.

His policies were certainly not clear to everyone since he basically told everyone what they wanted to hear. If you didn’t read his history, his writings and, most important to me, his past associations, you probably wouldn’t have felt the same as I did.

I knew what he was about and I shuttered to think about the consequences to Israel, to our economy, to our country. I believed him when he said that he fundamentally wanted to change our country. I didn’t want to fundamentally change our country. I love our country and have always felt that it is special. That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t change, improve, and grow. It means that I believe in our core ideals, the people, and the idea of America and the constitution.

That is why I didn’t blame anyone for obsessively opposing Obama at every turn, including Sen. Mitch McConnell, with his famous statement that his number one priority over the next two years was to deny Obama a second term.

As a Republican, his comments were fair game. As a person who vehemently opposed Obama’s agenda, it was fair game. Remember, at the time the President essentially had a monopoly on both the House and the Senate, and of course the presidency.

So I say this with all sincerity. Democrats have the same right and the same motivation that Republicans had when Barack Obama became President. That is their right as Americans, and I understand it.

With this said, however, there are major differences here. The media that was sycophantic, absent and compliant towards the Obama administration has now all of a sudden “woken up.” I have no problem if they do their job. They, however, have no credibility, since they so obviously didn’t do their job over the past eight years. The media became part of the left’s agenda, hardly questioning policies. Certainly no major investigations into abuses of power, corruption pay for play. They were allies to Obama and towed the party line. Even when some of them were attacked, singled out and threatened by the government because of their aggressive reporting, the media sat on their hands and did nothing.

Vitriol, Hatred and Disgusting Behavior

So why am I writing this now? In all my years on this planet I have never seen the level of vitriol, hatred and disgusting behavior that I have seen from those on the left. Especially from many on the left (not liberal, liberal is still a good word) within the Jewish community.

If you read the Forward (I do even though I hate its leanings), you have been treated to wonderful columns such as Peter Beinart’s recent attack on Jared Kushner, and the title was, “How could Modern Orthodox Judaism produce Jared Kushner?” Kushner married Trump’s daughter, who converted to Judaism. By all accounts he is a real “mensch” (for those of you who don’t know what that means, “a person of integrity and honor”). He is a successful businessman, graduated cum laude from Harvard, community leader, does a tremendous amount of charitable work and is a father to three children with Ivanka. So this self-important little weasel (Beinart) writes a hate column against Kushner and indicts an entire Jewish movement because he doesn’t agree with Kushner politically. Nice.

Here are other such “gems” from the Forward:

“Did Donald Trump keep Hitler speeches by his bed?”

Final Ad Evokes Centuries-Old Anti-Semitic Dogma”

“Donald Trump is a Candidate for the Alt Right, Not the Jews”

These are only a few of the headlines from the Forward. Okay, they are a left-of-center publication. I get it. However, if they stooped any lower, they would be at the bottom of the Dead Sea.

Peace, Love and Arrogance

An artist friend of mine who is an incredible person, a gentle soul, received a message from a prominent divorce attorney in town who shall remain nameless. This attorney is part of the lost-in-the-60s generation. Personally, I believe that there should be a law against bald men wearing pony tails. Not a pretty sight.  Peace, love, and arrogance. If they don’t agree with you, you are a racist, Nazi scum.  Let me first say that I know this attorney. He is a condescending, self-important little miscreant who pretends to have ethics, only when it suits him. In short, he is an arrogant syphilitic little dwarf (not politically correct, my apologies to “little people”). In short, I don’t like him. (Did you guess that?) This mean, small man with a huge ego said, “How can you support Trump? He is a Nazi.”

No basis for this, and frankly, he is not close with this person, so it didn’t come from someone who was a personal friend. It came from a leftist bully.

Some examples of leftist dogma or … “bullyist” (new word)] fascism.

If you didn’t vote for Obama, you must be a racist.

If you voted for Trump, you are a racist, homophobe, alt right Nazi.

If you didn’t support the Iran deal, then you wanted war.

If you didn’t support the (un)Affordable Care Act, you are immoral and don’t want people to have insurance. On and on and on.

Calls for Impeachment Before the Election

Now, as I have said numerous times, I didn’t support Obama. I am not one of those who feel that he meant well, especially towards Israel, or that he was just naïve. That is my right and I trust my own judgement. I will do, however, what many of the sycophantic left didn’t do during the past eight years. I will criticize this president as I have all along.

His executive order was written poorly, rolled out improperly and communicated horribly, besides the fact that it was great. Remember President Obama actually had most of his cabinet approved within the first few weeks? Chuck Schumer and the Democrats purposely are obstructing his cabinet picks. Yes, they are allowed to and obligated to question those cabinet members with whom they disagree, like Betty Devos. They have, however, left this administration in a very dangerous position by delaying important cabinet choices just to score political points.

Trump should have waited until his attorney general took his position. There are also many Obama administration holdovers who are sabotaging Trump’s every move, including leaking conversations with world leaders to embarrass him. I can assure you that if conversations with world leaders with Obama were leaked, they would have been extremely embarrassing to him.

Shooting from the Hip

Congress should pass a bill banning the president from using Twitter.

Our President speaks and shoots from the hip, he embellishes, liberally, uses hyperbole and often doesn’t get his facts right. His comment about voter fraud is “not demonstrably false,” as the media has pontificated. It is not demonstrably true either, and as a president, you have a responsibility not to just spew out conspiracy theories. I will say that the blowhards in the media who spout out the nonsense of this “conspiracy theory” being “demonstrably false” are also the ones who oppose an actual investigation into it. One of two things would happen if this were investigated.

Trump would be proven right or he would be proven wrong. Either way, we have an actual answer. What is wrong with that?  Why is it such a stretch to think that California, with its crazy sanctuary city laws, lack of IDs and encouragement of foreigners to vote in our election may in fact consist of voter fraud, since they are actually calling for it?

The president is all those things that I described, but he is doing his best to keep all of the promises that he made. The wall, tax cut, Obamacare repeal, he is learning that government doesn’t move as fast as he can in the private sector. He is a fast learner, and I wouldn’t take him lightly, as I have said since the beginning. There is a huge difference between a person who embellishes and exaggerates, and a person who, with malice of forethought, looks into the camera or his audience and flat out knowingly lies. You know, like I didn’t have sex with that women, or you can keep your doctor, or blaming the tragedy in Benghazi on an “awful internet video.”

The socalled “ban” is not a ban at all, it is a pause and a review. Stopping immigration from countries that are problematic for us is appropriate, within the purview of the president, and prudent. You are not a Nazi because you believe that we should review and or slow down immigration from countries that are failed states rife with hatred and terrorism and countries like Iran that chant Death to America almost daily. One only has to look at the consequences of unfettered immigration to Europe – the increase in terror attacks, the rape culture, anti-Semitism and the lack of assimilation in these communities.

You are not a Nazi if you question why our country has apparently favored Muslims from these war-torn countries rather than Christians, who are a main target of the truly evil Islamist groups like ISIS.

anti-trump protest

The entire issue is contrived, blown out of proportion and just being used by an impotent, powerless Democratic party who has found itself in the unenviable position of irrelevancy.

The hypocrisy of the media and the left is staggering. Take the issue with Trump and the judiciary. How dare he criticize them for, in his viewpoint, a bad decision? The ninth circuit is famous for, among other things, having over 80 percent of their decisions overturned, so perhaps the president is correct.

Does anyone remember Obama’s state of the Union speech, when he directly criticized the Supreme Court, in its presence, for its decision on Citizens United? This was unprecedented, but apparently people on the left have amnesia.

During another State of the Union speech, a congressman yelled, “you lie” to the president. Immediately, everyone screamed racism, but of course nobody talks about the fact that the president did knowingly lie.

Now we have the entertainment industry. Had they acted this way with Obama, everyone would have screamed racism. Entertainers are in many cases sensitive, emotional people, which is what makes them good at what they do. That is precisely why they should stick to entertaining and not lecturing us on anything.

We don’t need to hear from the aging Madonnas of the world that she is thinking of blowing up the White House.

We don’t need to hear from second-tier talent like Chelsea Handler about Trump’s children. Ivanka has more intelligence and class than Chelsea Handler and “Chuy” combined. Besides, Chelsea is not funny.

Speaking of Chelseas, we certainly don’t need to hear from Chelsea Clinton about made-up attacks. Kellyanne Conway admits mistake in citing a “bowling green” terror attack that didn’t happen. Although one can argue that Chelsea Clinton is an expert on the subject of “made up attacks” since she learned from the best, her Mom.

We don’t need to hear from Rosie O’Donnell about our president being unstable. That is like Charles Manson calling for former New York Knicks basketball player Charles Oakley to take anger management classes. (Look it up).

The amount of hatred toward Trump and his family is dangerous. It is a sad commentary on the state of our culture that one can still carry pitchforks and torches against enemies. This from the supposedly enlightened “Progressives.”

So far the left’s “uncivil” war has no opposing side; the right looks on in amusement as the left self-destructs. However, I caution our country that if pushed too far, we could have a real civil war, and the consequences are too terrible to imagine.
