As the U.S. and Iran are set to meet for the final round of nuclear talks, Iranians chose to express their true feelings, demanding “Death to America.”

Several thousand Iranians gathered outside the former US embassy in Tehran on Tuesday to mark its takeover by students 35 years ago, AFP reports.

They chose to commemorate the event by burning American flags and chanting “Death to America,” “Death to Israel”and “Death to Britain.”

The crowd of 2,000 to 3,000 demonstrators who gathered outside the compound, which was overrun in 1979, was larger than in recent years. AFP believes it’s mostly because it coincided with the Ashura, a prominent Shiite holiday.

One of the speakers at the event, Ali Razah Panhian, a professor and cleric, likened the US to the enemies of Hussein, the founder of Shiite Islam. He condemned the nuclear talks between Iran and the Western countries on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear aspirations and stated that negotiations would not change the anti-American stance of the Iranian people.

“I am here to mark the oppression, cruelty and injustice of America,” Hamed Kargari, a 24-year-old student, told AFP.

The Iranian national TV reported the several such demonstrations took place in other Iranian cities.

U.S. Allies, including Israel, Fear Shift in Balance of Power

This annual spectacle occurred just days before the Iranian and Western foreign ministers are scheduled to meet for final talks on Iran’s nuclear plans.

Persistent reports continue to come out of Washington that the Obama Administration and Iran have warmed up their diplomatic ties and have secretly begun to collaborate on various mutual regional interests, and chiefly the fight against the Islamic State (IS or ISIS) terror group.

The Wall Street Journal, which reported on this warming of diplomatic ties, warns that this shift could drastically alter the balance of power in the region, alienating key US allies such as Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, who are central to the coalition fighting IS.

Such a shift is also raising the level of anxiety in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly warned the West against making a deal with Iran that would allow the Islamic Republic to continue its nuclear agenda.

You Can Fight Back Against Iran!

The discussions between Iran and the West regarding Iran’s nuclear aspirations are at a crucial point. Israel fears that the Obama Administration will ease the sanctions on Iran to gain diplomatic points.
