“No one ever heard of her other than the fact that she, very obviously, hates Israel,” Trump wrote.

President Donald Trump blasted the decision to award the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to South African jurist Navi Pillay, accusing her of hostility toward Israel and arguing that his own record of ending conflicts made him far more deserving of the award.
“This is the woman who received the Nobel Peace Prize over the Great United States of America, whose Representative, ME, settled eight Wars, and many other things,” Trump wrote in a lengthy Truth Social post.
“I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anyone else!” he continued. “In fact, to the best of my knowledge, no one ever heard of her other than the fact that she, very obviously, hates Israel.”
Trump claimed he deserved eight Nobel Peace Prizes for his role in resolving conflicts involving Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Israel and Hamas.
“In actuality, I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1,” he wrote.
Trump also pointed to his administration’s campaign against Iran, saying he prevented Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, as well as his role in securing the return of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
“I got back all of the hostages in Israel, including the final 28, both living and dead, and worked with Hamas to do it — Nobody believed this was possible!” he wrote.
He said he is now close to resolving two additional conflicts involving Iran and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Trump called Pillay a “liberal person who works at the United Nations” and accused the Norwegian Nobel Committee of permanently damaging the credibility of the award.
“The United States of America, represented by me, as your President, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but didn’t,” Trump wrote. “This is an indelible stain on Norway, one that will never be forgotten.”
“The Nobel ‘Peace’ Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of Radical Ideologues who are Anti-Democracy, and Enemies of Civilization!” he added.
Pillay, a former UN high commissioner for human rights, received the prize for what the Nobel Committee described as her efforts to promote peace and international law.
Pillay also has a lengthy record of harsh criticism of Israel. She chaired the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Israel and the Palestinian territories from 2021 to 2025, which last year accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, an allegation Israel has categorically rejected as false and politically motivated.
Pillay accused Israel of deliberately starving Palestinians, destroying Gaza’s medical system and carrying out acts “calculated to bring about the destruction of a people.”
Israel has rejected those accusations, pointing to the IDF’s extensive measures to warn civilians and facilitate humanitarian aid while fighting Hamas, which deliberately operates from within densely populated civilian areas.
Israeli officials have repeatedly stressed that the military’s objective is the destruction of Hamas, not Gaza’s civilian population, and have accused Pillay’s commission of ignoring evidence that contradicts its narrative.
Pillay has also supported the BDS campaign against Israel and calls for punitive measures against the Jewish state, including an arms embargo and restrictions on trade with Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria.
Israel reacted furiously to her selection, with the Foreign Ministry accusing Pillay of promoting the “genocide lie” and saying the award represented a “grotesque weaponization” of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Trump returned to the subject in a second Truth Social post, again listing his foreign-policy accomplishments and expressing disbelief that neither he nor the United States received the prize.
“I settled 8 WARS, am close to ending or settling 2 more, got all of the Israeli hostages back, including the final 28, both living and dead,” Trump wrote, also citing his actions against Iran and Venezuela.
“Yet, with all of that I, or the United States of America, did not get the Nobel Peace Prize. WOW!”
