In a petition to US Congress with 156,968 names of Israel supporters, UWI urged 43 undecided Democratic Senators and Congressman to vote against the Iran nuclear deal.

United with Israel recently sent 43 undecided members of the US Congress – 19 members of the House and 24 senators – a three inch thick, spiral-bound book (see photo below) with the names of 156,958 US citizens who strongly oppose a nuclear Iran.

The petition calls upon these legislators to vote against the upcoming bill in support of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, otherwise known as the “Iran Nuclear Deal.”

UWI specifically targeted Democratic officials whose position on the upcoming bill was still undeclared.

The text of the petition reads as follows:

Dear Representative [Name],

Please be in receipt of the enclosed online petition signed by 156,968 US citizens expressing their profound opposition to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between the P5+1 world powers in which the United States played a major role, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, over the latter’s nuclear program.

Iran petition

UWI petition to Congress against the Iran nuclear deal.

As the petition states, our signatories firmly request that the US Senate and Congress “reject the dangerous deal with Iran and ensure that sanctions remain in force until the nuclear threat is eliminated.”

The United States and the international community must keep the pressure on Iran with harsh sanctions and demand that its nuclear program be completely dismantled.

This view is held by a majority of the American people. We urge you to vote against the JCPOA and instead, seek a better deal that includes ‘anytime, anywhere’ inspections that eliminate the Iran nuclear threat both now and in the future.

We thank you very much for listening – and for your support.

Sincerely,

Concerned members of United with Israel

The total number of signatures well exceeded 200,000, but the massive compilation of names sent directly to each representative’s Washington, D.C. office included only those of US citizens, who have the right to help elect member of the US House and Senate.

It is our fervent hope that with the help of this petition and the hundreds of thousands of people it represents, US elected officials will demonstrate the necessary wisdom and political courage to oppose this very dangerous deal.
