Archaeologists in Jerusalem’s City of David uncovered charred wooden beams from the First Temple era, destroyed in 586 BCE, offering rare precision dating and a moving physical link to the ancient catastrophe. The announcement was made on Monday, during the annual nine days of mourning over the destruction of the First and Second Temples, leading up to the fast of Tisha b’Av.
