PortugueseDespite the fear felt by many pro-Israel Canadians, it would appear that new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is seeking to enhance the existing great relationship Canada has with Israel.
Former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was a staunch ally of Israel, promising to stand with us “through fire and water”.
Many pro-Israel observers have been apprehensive since Trudeau won the national election, especially since Canada’s new foreign minister, Stephane Dion, signaled that there would be a change, at least “in tone.”
From the recent meeting between Netanyahu and Trudeau, it would seem that the new relationship is already off to a good start.
Trudeau has been invited to visit Israel, and the two are set to hold further discussions, so for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
