Avinu Malkeinu (“Our Father, Our King”) is a treasured Jewish prayer that is recited during the Jewish High Holiday services and fast days.

The prayer was instituted by the great Jewish sage Rabbi Akiva ( 50–135 CE) during a devastating drought in the Land of Israel.

After this moving supplication was composed by the holy sage, rains began to fall.
