An Israeli professor’s discovery that mice have personalities could open the door to more “personalized” psychiatry for human beings.

While Mickey Mouse’s bubbly smile has delighted children for close to a century, Israeli researchers recently discovered that rodents in fact possess “personalities.”

The study was spearheaded by Professor Alon Chen of Israel’s world-renown Weizmann Institute, whose lab focuses on discoveries that improve the design of therapeutic interventions for stress-related disorders.

Professor Chen’s latest findings related to rodent emotions, behavior, and development, may lead to major advances in “personalized” human psychiatry.
