At a memorial ceremony to remember the Jews slain in the Holocaust, Netanyahu shared a personal story of tragedy and triumph.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara participated in a memorial ceremony in Lithuania in remembrance of the 70,000 Jews of Vilna (Vilnius) who perished in the Holocaust.

At the ceremony, the prime minister shared a heart-wrenching story from his grandfather’s life, describing a brutal beating at the hands of anti-Semites not far from the site of the memorial.

Netanyahu’s grandfather vowed that if he survived, he would immigrate to the Land of Israel and help build the Jewish people’s future in their ancestral homeland.
