IAF flight planning

Unknown flight planners occupy one of the most sensitive and important – yet least heralded – positions in the IDF. There’s no room for error.

Air force fighter pilots are at the forefront of Israel’s military activity in the north and south, often flying delicate missions that can go wrong in an instant. The relatively unknown flight assistants are working from the ground to make sure the pilots make it home.

Flight planners – female soldiers, 19 or 20 years of age – occupy one of the most sensitive and important positions in the IDF but the least heralded. Israel Air Force pilots couldn’t leave the ground without them.

There’s no room for error – especially not in the current situation, as air operations soar over Syria and the Gaza Strip.

This is the first time an inside look has been permitted for this unit. Watch and learn about the vital work that these young women do!
